Silicone skirt
The skirt of this mask (the soft part of the mask in contact with the face) is made of silicone, an extremely flexible material.
It has been fully redesigned for this 2021 version after looking at your feedback to suit even more divers
The thickness of the SCD 500 mask has been optimised to ensure an optimal seal, with the thinnest possible skirt to avoid discomfort and points of contact on the face;
Choice of colours and sizes
The SCD 500 mask is available in four versions.
The opaque (black) skirts help reduce glare due to light conditions. On the contrary, the clear skirts open up the diver's field of vision.
The use of the fluorescent yellow on one of the designs helps increase the diver's visibility in cloudy water.
The grey-tinted lens improves contrast under water, notably when the brightness is very strong
Available in two sizes (M and L).
Tempered glass lenses
Tempered glass is two to five times more durable than traditional glass. When it shatters, it breaks into small pieces, reducing the risk of a major accident. It has the advantage of better scratch resistance compared to a polycarbonate lens.
The mirror lens version helps reduce brightness, notably in the more shallow zones or at the surface.
Mask adjustment
Micrometric adjustment buckles together with the notched strap on either side of the mask allow easy and highly accurate adjustment of the mask, even when wearing gloves.
Dimensions and weight of the mask (size M)
Width of the mask: 17 cm.
Height of the mask: 10 cm. Maximum height of the strap: 8 cm
Length of the strap: 57 cm
Accreditation
Mask certified compliant with safety requirements according to European EN 16805 standards. Certified by the INPP (French professional diving institute) in Marseilles.
How to choose the right mask size
You need to position your mask on your face without the strap, and press with your hands to make sure it’s firmly in place, blocking your breath.
If the mask "suctions” properly, and stays stuck to your face, it’s perfect and means that it is your size and will be watertight.
If it unsticks and falls off, that means that air is getting through, and so water will get in, so you’ll need to try another size or another mask.
Avoid the appearance of mist in your mask
New mask: Wash your mask with washing-up liquid and warm water, using your fingers, to remove any grease. Do not use a sponge.
Before each use, spit into your mask and wipe the lens with your fingers to rinse the mask.
Dampen your face with the water to limit heat loss between the skin and the lens of your mask, as this will reduce mist.
Use an anti-fogging spray to completely eliminate mist.
