What precisely is a MOLLE fastener?
The term MOLLE refers to a fastening system used by the US Army which, in the late 90s, became a standard for attaching equipment (weapons, knives, ammunition magazines, etc.) to backpacks and tactical waistcoats. MOLLE stands for "Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment". Or, in French, "Équipement modulaire pour transport de petits accessoires légers".
Note: many backpacks are fitted with MOLLE buckles.
